How ADHD Plus Health works

At ADHD Plus Health , we provide confidential one-to-one online consultations with experienced GMC-registered specialist clinicians who work across both NHS and independent healthcare settings. Our aim is to offer professional, compassionate, and evidence-based assessments tailored to each individual’s needs.

We pride ourselves on bringing together highly experienced expert clinicians and consultant psychiatrists who hold specialist registration and CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) status with the General Medical Council, ensuring the highest recognised level of professional qualification and expertise within their field.

We strongly recognise that ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder are often complex neurodevelopmental conditions that require careful, thorough, and holistic assessment. For this reason, every ADHD and Autism assessment at ADHD Plus Health includes a minimum of 90 minutes of live online or face-to-face consultation time with the assessing clinician. We believe that shorter assessments of less than 60 minutes may not be clinically appropriate for a significant number of patients and may fail to fully explore the complexity of symptoms, developmental history, functional impairment, associated conditions, educational impact, occupational difficulties, and wider psychosocial factors.

Understanding the NHS Right to Choose (RTC) Pathway

Under the NHS England “Right to Choose” framework, many patients in England have a legal right to choose their provider for their first outpatient appointment and subsequent treatment where clinically appropriate. This legal principle forms part of the NHS patient choice framework and allows eligible patients to access approved independent providers commissioned to deliver NHS-funded services.

This pathway has become particularly important within ADHD and Autism services due to the significant national increase in referral demand and exceptionally long waiting lists in many local NHS services. NHS England’s independent ADHD Taskforce acknowledged serious concerns regarding timely access to assessment and treatment and highlighted the substantial risks associated with delayed diagnosis and untreated ADHD. A. Book Your Initial Consultation

Importantly, the clinician’s preparation and post assessment work are undertaken in addition to the live consultation time. This includes:

  • Reviewing pre-assessment questionnaires and background information
  • Preparing clinically for the assessment
  • Gathering collateral information from multiple sources, where required
  • Liaising with other healthcare professionals or disciplines if appropriate
  • Completing comprehensive reports and personalised treatment recommendations

We also pride ourselves on enhancing our assessments through the use of QBCheck, the first, and currently the only, objective ADHD assessment technology supported by both National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance and cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

QBCheck is an advanced medical technology designed to
objectively measure attention, impulsivity, and activity levels, helping to further strengthen the assessment process and support greater scientific accuracy and clinical confidence alongside expert specialist evaluation.

We also offer a complimentary 15-minute no-obligation introductory call with our initial clinical team, which primarily consists of psychiatrists, mental health nurses, and allied healthcare professionals. This call is designed to help guide patients regarding the most appropriate type of assessment for their needs, explain how the overall assessment and treatment pathway works, and answer any initial questions or concerns. The introductory call carries no obligation whatsoever and can be arranged through our team by contacting .

Appointments are conducted remotely using secure encrypted video consultation software, allowing patients to attend from the comfort and privacy of their home using:

  • A computer or laptop
  • A tablet
  • A smartphone

To ensure the best experience, we recommend:

  • A stable internet connection
  • A working microphone and camera
  • A quiet and private environment

Most consultations are conducted through secure platforms such as Microsoft Teams or equivalent approved systems. Patients may either download the relevant application or join directly through their web browser.

Shortly before your appointment, simply click the secure meeting link provided in your confirmation email to enter the virtual consultation room.

All consultations are confidential and conducted in accordance with UK healthcare governance, GDPR, and clinical confidentiality standards.

C. During Your Assessment

Your clinician will undertake a detailed and structured assessment exploring:

  • Current symptoms and concerns
  • Medical and psychiatric history
  • Educational and occupational background
  • Developmental history
  • Functional impact on daily life
  • Family and social background

Where appropriate, additional screening tools, questionnaires, school reports, family observations, or collateral information may also be requested to support the diagnostic process.

Our clinicians aim to provide a professional, respectful, and supportive environment where patients feel comfortable discussing their experiences openly.

We recognise that ADHD and Autism frequently overlap with other mental health or neurodevelopmental conditions, and our assessments therefore take a broad, holistic, and multidisciplinary perspective wherever appropriate.

D. After the Consultation

Following your assessment, your clinician will complete detailed clinical documentation which will be securely added to your patient record.

You will subsequently receive a written assessment summary outlining:

  • Clinical findings
  • Diagnostic outcomes (where applicable)
  • Treatment recommendations
  • Suggested next steps
  • Follow-up arrangements if required

Due to increasing national demand for specialist neurodevelopmental services, there may occasionally be delays in final report preparation. However, urgent clinical matters are prioritised appropriately by the treating clinician.

Patients may also be offered:

  • Follow-up review appointments
  • Psychological therapy recommendations
  • Educational or workplace support guidance
  • Lifestyle and behavioural interventions
  • Medication discussions where clinically indicated

E. ADHD Medication & Titration Pathway

Where a diagnosis of ADHD is confirmed and medication is considered clinically appropriate, patients may be referred into our ADHD medication titration programme.

Titration involves carefully introducing and adjusting medication under specialist supervision to ensure:

  • Safe prescribing
  • Optimal symptom improvement
  • Monitoring of benefits and side effects
  • Ongoing clinical review

Please note that there may be a waiting period between diagnostic assessment and commencement of medication treatment, depending on service demand and clinical capacity.

Our clinicians work closely with patients to ensure treatment plans remain safe, personalised, evidence-based, and aligned with NICE guidance where appropriate.

  • Compassionate and patient-centred care
  • Evidence-based assessment and treatment
