Marva Sherman is a Senior Accredited Counsellor (National Counselling Society), psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and counselling amd Psychotherapy Senior Lecturer based in London, with a career spanning IAPT/NHS Talking Therapies services, private practice, and higher education since 1998.

She currently serves as Senior Lecturer on the NHS Pathway Postgraduate PCE Psychotherapy programme at Metanoia Institute, where she also works as an assessor, supervisor, and tutor on the PCE-CFD and Supervision courses. Alongside this, she provides clinical supervision for Mind in Hackney's and Mind in Bexley’s Talking Therapy Service and runs an independent practice offering therapy and supervision. Her clinical background includes several years as Counsellor Lead at Brent Talking Therapies (CNWL NHS Trust), where she managed a counselling team, provided step 3 interventions, chaired reflective practice on diversity issues, and supervised PCE-CFD and Couple Therapists, alongside earlier roles as Senior Counsellor and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner across CNWL, ELFT, and Mind in Harrow.

She is trained across a wide range of modalities, including Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CFD), Couples Therapy for Depression, EMDR, Transactional Analysis (Postgraduate Diploma), DBT skills, mindfulness-based approaches, and the Rewind Technique for trauma, and holds a 2025 Diploma in African Centred Restorative Praxis reflecting her particular focus on culturally-centred practice. She is a member of the National Counselling Society, UKATA/EATA, BAATN, the Association of Black Psychologists (ABPSi), and the Mindfulness Association.
